Residence Permit and Visa

Foreigner’s Stay/Residence Permit Application Procedures

Students who intend to study in IMNU for 1 year or longer should apply for a resident permit with the following materials (in A4 format)

1. 1 copy of the completed Visa/Stay Permit/Residence Permit Application Form;

2. 1 copy of the official letter written by IMNU International Cooperation and Exchange Department;

3. The original Health Test Result proving no major/fatal diseases or infections (provided/verified by Inner Mongolia International Traveling Heath Test Center);

4. Photocopies of passport information page, study visa (X Visa) and the most recent entrance stamp page;

5. 1 original and 1 photocopy of Visa Application for Study in China Form (JW201/202) stamped by IMNU and Inner Mongolia Education Affairs Department;

6. The completed Accommodation Registration Form For Foreign Nationals stamped by the local Public Security Bureau or International Cooperation and Exchange Department;

Applicants should hand all materials to the Boarder Management Department of Hohhot Public Security Bureau and take a photo there to start the process. The fee is RMB400 yuan (for less than 11 month) and 800 yuan (for 1 year).

Short-term study visa application process

Students who intend to study in China for less than 6 months may apply for a short-term study visa (X2 visa), which allows students to stay in China for 180 days. Application requires the following materials:

1. 1 copy of the completed Visa/Stay Permit/Residence Permit Application Form;

2. 1copy of the official letter written by IMNU International Cooperation and Exchange Department;

3. Photocopies of passport information page and the most recent entrance stamp page;

4. 1 original and 1 photocopy of Visa Application for Study in China Form (JW201/202) stamped by IMNU and Inner Mongolia Education Affairs Department

5. The completed Accommodation Registration Form For Foreign Nationals stamped by the local Public Security Bureau or International Cooperation and Exchange Department
